THE DAY WE BUILT THE BIG KNITTED CHRISTMAS TREE 27th November 2018
18 months on from sowing the seed:the coming together of The Big Knitted Christmas Tree!
9am. The beginning of the Big Tree Build Day. Branches stacked and sorted. The BIG TREE trunk starts to be erected.
Ten young volunteers from Jaguar Land Rover come to help build the tree. A first job was to erect the scaffolding tower in order to start dressing the tree from the top! Then, 20 feet in the air, the first thing; the star appears!
The BIG TREE is dressed from the top downwards. There are lots and lots of branches to sort and put on the tree.
The JLR team also put up Christmas lights inside and outside the Church to make it look really festive.
Posing for a shot just after the scaffolding had finally been erected. Chair of the District Council Stephen Cross and Councillor Christine Cross came to lend a hand.
Bit by bit…branch by branch… decoration by decoration…
Phew! Dead on target! Just before 2.30pm the Big Tree was done.
The lights were up, the banner in place. We celebrated the BIG KNITTED CHRISTMAS TREE’S arrival with a very joyful Community Carols on December 1st. All Saints was full to bursting! Thanks to Emscote Voices, MScout Cubs and Beavers, Emscote Community Singing Group for their special music-making. Thank you too to All Saints Kings Heath, Birmingham for the use of their wooden frame and the benefit of their experience. Thank you to everyone, near and far, in so many different ways, who helped to grow the
